Idan has immersed himself in nonformal education for over two decades, beginning his journey as a youth instructor at Kibbutz Sde Boker. He then co. formed and lead the Nahal program “noar yotzer” (creative youth) in kibbutz Sde Boker. Shortly after finishing his B.Ed Idan joined the “”Jewish agency” as a representative in Sofia, Bulgaria. Upon his return Idan formed and managed the youth department in “Lehavim” municipality. Presently, Idan serves as a lecturer and pedagogical guide for nonformal education, in the bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate programs at the Democratic Institute within Kay College. He is also part of a pedagogical innovation think tank in the Department of Society and Youth in the Southern District of the Ministry of Education in Israel.

Idan firmly believes that nonformal education serves as a vital pathway for youth development in today’s dynamic world. He advocates for the integration of nonformal education principles, methods, and skills across various youth-related domains to enrich and adapt educational practices to the evolving realities. Much of Idan’s work revolves around training and mentoring educators, fostering skills development, creative thinking, nurturing personal growth, enhancing autonomy, and equipping educators with professional tools to navigate the changing world effectively.
